The MWSAU Welfare Fund

The Welfare Fund is a solidarity pool created by the Migrant Workers Support Association Uganda (MWSAU) to provide limited financial help to registered members during emergencies abroad. It is not an insurance scheme, but a voluntary support fund managed with transparency and accountability.

How It Works

Every registered member contributes through their membership fee.
The fund is reserved strictly for emergency support of members abroad.
Requests are reviewed by the Welfare Fund Committee before approval.
All usage of funds is reported to members annually for transparency.

Who Is Eligible?

Only fully registered members with a valid certificate.
Cases must involve genuine emergencies (medical, abuse, detention, repatriation).
Requests must be submitted by the member on their dashboard, or their family if they cannot.

Rules & Limitations

Funds are disbursed based on urgency and availability.
Maximum support per member per year is capped to ensure fairness.
No payouts for salary disputes, personal debts, or non-emergency issues.
Committee decisions are final but can be appealed in writing.

Transparency & Reporting

MWSAU commits to openness in fund management. Every year, members will receive a summary of contributions and how the Welfare Fund was used. This ensures accountability and confidence in our collective support system.
